Hello there, Isometrik users! 👋
DMARC records are part of your domain's DNS settings. You can find them in your domain provider's dashboard, whether you're using Google Domains, GoDaddy, Namecheap, or any other provider.
In this article, you'll find What DMARC is, Why it is required, plus How-to-tutorials to set up DMARC and verify DMARC records.
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance)
What is DMARC?
DMARC is a powerful email authentication protocol that allows domain owners to set policies for email receivers on how to handle emails that fail authentication checks.
Why DMARC?
DMARC acts as a traffic signal for mail servers, guiding them on how to treat failing emails—whether to mark them as spam, deliver anyway, or drop them.
DMARC provides valuable reports, protects your domain, boosts reputation, and helps prevent spammers from using your domain.
How to Set up DMARC Records?
Prerequisites: DMARC setup is not applicable for free email accounts (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo). It requires a business email with your domain (e.g., name@domain.com).
Important: Before implementing any changes, consult your service provider's specific instructions and documentation.
Remember: Click the refresh button in Isometrik after updating DNS Provider settings.
The examples below assume Google is the domain and mail provider. If the DMARC record is missing, you will need to create a new TXT record in your domain's DNS manager.
Steps to Follow
- Open this website (DMARC record generator), enter your domain, then click "Submit".
- If the domain doesn't have a valid DMARC, an 'X' will display. Click "NEXT" to generate a record.
- Copy the displayed text value.
- Log into your DNS provider and locate the area for managing DNS records.
- Add a new TXT record.
- The name of the record should be
_dmarc. - The value of the record should be the copied text (e.g.,
v=DMARC1;p=reject;rua=mailto:mail@yourdomain.com;ruf=mailto:mail@yourdomain.com;fo=1;adkim=r;aspf=r;pct=100;ri=86400). - Save changes and wait for DNS propagation (maximum 1 hour).

How to check if an email account has DMARC & SPF set correctly?
In Isometrik, under Sequence score, you can check if DMARC is set for your connected email account. A green checkmark for DMARC indicates the record has been added.
You can click on DMARC and it will show the value added in the DNS manager so you can verify it is correct.
Remember: Click the refresh button in Isometrik after updating your DNS provider settings.
